This initiative is aligned with YouTube’s overarching mission to combat the dissemination of false or misleading health information. By actively promoting credible content, YouTube aims to mitigate the impact of incorrect details that might otherwise influence public health decisions. The newly introduced videos cover a range of techniques for administering first aid in various medical emergencies, offering step-by-step instructions for crucial scenarios such as CPR, the Heimlich maneuver for choking, managing bleeding, responding to heart attacks, strokes, seizures, and dealing with opioid overdoses.

These educational videos were developed in collaboration with Mass General Brigham, a healthcare system that has previously partnered with YouTube to promote consumer access to credible health information. Merranda Logan, MD, MPH, Associate Chief Academic Officer at Mass General Brigham, expressed the system’s commitment to providing trustworthy information and expanding YouTube’s educational series to include step-by-step first aid and emergency care videos in multiple languages.
Moreover, the collaboration extended to the Mexican Red Cross, ensuring that the videos are accessible in Spanish. Ana Robles Quijano, the National Fundraising Coordinator from the Mexican Red Cross, highlighted the importance of reliable first aid techniques and expressed pleasure in collaborating with YouTube Health to provide videos approved by the Mexican Red Cross. The aim is to help people with first aid information precisely when they need medical support the most.
YouTube has also announced a collaboration with the American Heart Association to create a CPR course, which is available for free on the platform. The course, designed to educate and prepare individuals to confidently respond to cardiac emergencies, is part of the Nation of Lifesavers movement. Comilla Sasson, MD, PhD, Vice President of Health Science for the American Heart Association, emphasized the simplicity of the mission – to empower anyone to save a life during a cardiac emergency. The CPR course, available in English, will soon be supplemented with a Spanish-language version.
